Our Mission: Creating Caring Communities

United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

United Methodist Women in Mission
United Methodist Women is a nearly 1 million member-strong organization of women who seek to know God and to make life better for women, children, youth and marginalized neighbors in the ever-expanding global village of today's world.  United Methodist Women members meet in their local churches, during their lunch break at work, after classes on their college campuses and even online.  However they choose to gather, members create a supportive community that nurtures their spiritual growth journeys and provides opportunities for the following:
·
Leadership development
·
Study of issues impacting their neighborhoods, nation and world;
·
Participation in informed advocacy and actions
·
Financial support of institutions and projects empowering women, children and youth in the United States and around the world.

UMW ANNUAL MEETING and FALL INGATHERING
Saturday, September 24th, 9:00 a.m./2:00 p.m. (Bring a lunch and a friend)
Effort United Methodist Church, Effort, PA

Program: Kelly Parks brings to life "A Romanian Woman's Experience In Human Trafficking"

This is always a fun and informative way to begin our year as women with a mission...and a great way to gain a larger sense of the vision, purpose, and influence of United Methodist Women. At the annual "Ingathering" each unit of United Methodist Women bring items for mission ministries. This year items will go to Hazelton Enlarged Ministries and the Salem Inner City Ministries Thrift Shop, sponsored by Asbury UMC.

Items requested (should be new w/tags attached): underwear and socks for all ages; clothes and diapers for infant, baby, toddler; towels and washcloths; men's jeans; nightwear; sweaters; mittens and hats.
There will be a box downstairs and one upstairs, so you can begin bringing in your items starting the first Sunday of August.
LET'S MAKE THIS A "BANNER YEAR" OF EPWORTH UMW PARTICIPATION

The World Thank Offering collected over $550 for world Missions.
We uplift all of those thankful thoughts to our lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
