The season of Lent is often a time to grow closer in your relationship with God and discern the ways in which God is calling to live out your discipleship in the real world. We know immigration is a hot button issue in our political realm right now and yet immigration is not merely a political issue – it is a theological and spiritual matter deeply rooted in our Christian faith. In a study created by the United Methodist Church’s Committee on Religion and Race, we will explore the topic of immigration through a faith lens. Some topics we will consider include the biblical and theological foundations of immigration, why people migrate, the deep connection between migration and land particularly in indigenous communities, and how we as disciples of Jesus and the Church can respond. In this five-week series, we will hear five diverse voices who are experts in these areas and have conversation around the topics and Bible study.
